Br.et R., which has white flowers over 30 cm in diameter, and the flat-stemmed night-flowering cereus (illustration), while the day-flowering group includes the peacock cactus Epiphyllum (illustration), the Schlumbergera cactus (illustration), and the string-like hanging gold string Aporocactus flagelliformis (L.) The genus Rhipsalis also grows epiphytically, but its flowers are small and its fruits are berries, and it is the only cactus that is naturally distributed in the old continent of Africa, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka.
