Gandaki River (English spelling)

Japanese: ガンダキ[川]（英語表記）Gandak

A large tributary of the Ganges that flows from central Nepal to the northern part of Bihar in India. It originates on the border between Nepal and Tibet, and is joined by the three rivers Marsyangdi, Buri Gandaki, Trisuli Gandaki, and Kali Gandaki, which flow through deep gorges in the steep Himalayas, and then crosses the Mahabharat mountain range. In Nepal, it is also called the Narayani. It flows from Nepal to India, along the border between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and joins the Ganga on the north bank at Patna.

ネパール中部からインドのビハール州北部を流れる，ガンガー(ガンジス)川の大支流。ネパールとチベットの国境を源とし，高峻なヒマラヤ山脈に深い峡谷をつくって流れる，マルシャンディ，ブリ･ガンダキ，トリスリ･ガンダキの3川と，カリ･ガンダキ川が合して，さらにマハーバーラト山脈を横切る。ネパールではナラヤニNarayani川ともいう。ネパールからインドに出て，ウッタル･プラデーシュとビハール州境を流れ，パトナの北岸でガンガー川に合流する。
