blue shift

...Redshift, also known as redshift, is a shift in the wavelength of a spectral line toward longer wavelengths due to some cause. The opposite shift toward shorter wavelengths is called blueshift. As an example in chemistry, the spectrum of a solute in a nonpolar solvent generally shifts toward longer wavelengths as the refractive index of the solvent increases (solvent effect).
