Loader

Also called a loader. A cargo handling machine that loads bulk materials such as ore at a wharf. It has a built-in conveyor and a boom with a chute at the end that extends from the main body. The boom can be elevated, extended, and rotated, and the chute often also extends and rotates, but the main body is usually a traveling type. 積込機とも。埠頭(ふとう)において鉱石などのばら物を船積みする荷役機械。コンベヤを内蔵し，先端にシュートをもつブームが本体から出ている。ブームは俯仰(ふぎょう)・伸縮・旋回が可能，シュートも伸縮・旋回するものが多く，本体は走行式が普通。ほかに土木用積込機，鉱山用の坑内積込機もある。
