Cumulative Book Index

...In 1977, the Index Society was founded in the UK and began creating newspaper indexes. In the US, HW Wilson Co., which took over Poole's business and developed it further, published the Cumulative Book Index in 1998 and continues to provide indexing services to this day. Today, with the introduction of computers, it has become possible to access a vast amount of literature, including academic papers, from a variety of index items, and the creation and provision of indexes has entered an era of mechanization.
