...It is also called environmental impact assessment. When considering plans or actions that affect the environment necessary for humans to live a healthy life (such as coastal reclamation work or urban development plans), various alternatives are considered, and their impacts on the environment are predicted, evaluated, and compared. As a prerequisite for environmental impact assessment, the investigation and evaluation of the geology, hydrology, vegetation, and other ecological characteristics of the area is sometimes called environmental assessment (abbreviated as EA).
