Takakushi-so

Japanese: 高串荘 - たかくしのしょう

An early manor of Todaiji Temple. It was located in Kaigo, Sakai County, Echizen Province. It is believed to be located in the area of Shirakata Town, in the northwestern suburbs of Fukui City today, but the exact location is unknown. According to the Echizen Kokushi Kogen of February 764 (Tenpyo Houji 8), the manor began with Takakushi Ashihara 9 cho 3 tan 144 bu, 2 ken of grass house, and 1 cho of house land, which Todaiji Temple purchased the previous year from Takanobu Takaya, a Shohachi-i lower rank manor whose main family home was in Sakyo Rokujo Nibo, for 33 kan of coins. The initial land area was 7 cho 2 tan 144 bu, and 2 cho 1 tan of undeveloped land. Later, in the Echizen Kokushi Kai of October 766 (Tenpyo Jingo 2), when Todaiji Temple attempted to strengthen its management of the manor, it appears as Kushikata Village, and records the results of the acquisition of cultivated land by peasants and the unification of the manor area through the revision of kubunden and noridan.

東大寺領の初期荘園。越前国坂井郡海郷にあった。現在の福井市西北郊，白方町付近に比定されるが，正確な位置は不詳。764年(天平宝字8)2月の〈越前国司公験〉によれば，同荘は左京六条二坊に本貫をもつ正八位下間人鷹養から銭33貫で東大寺が前年購入した高串芦原9町3段144歩と草屋2間，家地1町に始まる。当初の見開は7町2段144歩，未開2町1段であった。その後東大寺が荘園経営の強化を図った766年(天平神護2)10月の〈越前国司解〉には，串方村として見え，百姓墾田の買得，口分田･乗田の改正による荘域の一円化の結果が記されている。
