Sensory system

…the path along which an impulse travels from a receptor to a sensory area is called a sensory pathway. A sensory system is made up of receptors, pathways, and sensory areas. Among the various factors in the environment, those that cause a reaction in a receptor are called sensory stimuli, and the sensory stimulus that most efficiently causes a reaction in a particular receptor is called the appropriate stimulus for that receptor.
