In his collaborative verse dramas, Dogs in Skins (1935) and The F6 Climb (1936), he experimented with the techniques of German Expressionism. He admired solitary heroes (pilots and mountaineers) who were isolated from the crowd, and showed a talent for satire and wordplay. In his collection of poems, Behold, the Traveller (1936), he was the author of some of the finest love poems of all time. …
