Air environment - air quality

...The state of the air can be considered as (1) thermal conditions such as temperature and humidity, (2) airflow conditions such as wind speed and direction, and (3) the concentration of dust, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, bacteria, and other harmful substances, the concentration of oxygen, or the cleanliness of the air, such as odor. These are collectively called the air environment. The purpose of ventilation is to improve such an air environment so that it is suitable for human activities and the preservation of buildings and goods.
