...Those who tried to resolve the confusion of these different texts and organize them into a unified form were Fujiwara Teika in the early Kamakura period, and Minamoto Mitsuyuki (1163-1244) and his son Chikayuki, who both became Kawachi no Kami. Teika compiled the Aobyoshibon based on seven texts that were considered to be good at the time, and Mitsuyuki and Chikayuki compiled the Kawachibon by referring to even more texts. The former was concise and overshadowed by sentiment, while the latter was an annotated text that placed emphasis on clarity of meaning....

…From a young age, he devoted himself to copying and collating the Man'yoshu, and the results of his work became the basis for Senkaku's collated Man'yoshu. He also collated the Shin Kokinshu, but is especially known as a scholar of the Tale of Genji. Together with his father Mitsuyuki (1163-1244), he collated 21 different versions of the Tale of Genji, resulting in the completion of the Kawachi version of the Tale of Genji. As commentaries on the version, he continued his father's work and created the Suigensho (lost) and Genchu Saihisho. He was also a teacher of poetry and the Tale of Genji to Shoguns Minamoto no Sanetomo, Fujiwara no Yoritsune, and Prince Munetaka. …
