The most famous of the adaptations is Chikamatsu Hanji's "Love Suicides Kamiya Jihei," which premiered at the Kitashinchi Theater in Osaka in April 1778 (An'ei 7) and was expanded under the influence of the kabuki play "Nobe no Kakioki." The "Chaya no Dan" became popular as "Kawasho," and the "Kamiyachi" part has been performed mainly as "Ten no Amijima Shigure no Kotatsu" (also abbreviated as "Shigure no Kotatsu"), a further adaptation of Hanji's work. Many kabuki plays based on "Nobe no Kakioki," which were revised from "Nobe no Kakioki," have also been performed.
