Yupanqui
Argentine composer and singer. He is also a folklore lyricist and guitarist. His real name was Chabero. His stage name was taken from the names of two emperors of the Inca Empire. He was born in Campo de la Cruz, a remote village in Buenos Aires Province. He moved to Tucuman at the age of nine, and spent his childhood and adolescence wandering the country, studying music and literature while working. In 1929, he wrote his first work, The Way of the Indians. He continued to produce works that exude a deep view of life, with the themes of the lives of farmers and herdsmen, and expanded his activities in the 1930s and 1940s. His representative works include The Moon of Tucuman, Rocked by the Ox-Cart, and The Bull-Driver Goes. He became a leading figure in folklore with his left-handed guitar playing and his songs with a deep, profound narrative style. He also wrote books and poetry collections such as The Way of the Indians, Melodies of the Indians, and Song of the Wind.
