Garerin Cotton Spinning Factory

...From the end of the 18th century, the production shifted to cotton cloth, and from the end of the 1820s, machinery was introduced. In 1848, the central Garelin cotton spinning factory was founded, and the area became known as the "Manchester of Russia." The labor movement began in the 1970s, and in 1895, the Marxist Ivanovo-Voznesensk Workers' Union was formed.
