Japanese: 山陽[町] - さんよう

A former town in Asa County in the southwest of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is located in the Asa Basin in the lower reaches of the Asa River. The main settlement, Asa, is the junction of the Sanyo Main Line and the Mine Line, and after both lines were opened, it developed in place of the former post town of Funaki to the east. Habu, facing the Suo Nada Sea, is an agricultural and fishing village. In addition to rice cultivation and greenhouse horticulture, seaweed is also cultivated. Tourist vineyards are also thriving. It is the birthplace of Akama Suzuri inkstones. In March 2005, it merged with Onoda City to become a city, Sanyo Onoda City. ^{89.81 km2} . Population 22,610 (2003).

A former town in Akaiwa County, southern Okayama Prefecture. It is located in the Sunagawa Basin on the edge of the Kibi Plateau. The Sunagawa River is an open-air river, and irrigation is provided by reservoirs. The main settlement is Shimoichi. Peaches and grapes are grown here. Housing development is progressing. In March 2005, it merged with Akasaka Town, Kumayama Town, and Yoshii Town in Akaiwa County to become a city, Akaiwa City. ^{34.64 km2} . Population: 25,745 (2003).

山口県南西部，厚狭(あさ)郡の旧町。厚狭川下流域の厚狭盆地にある。主集落の厚狭は山陽本線と美祢(みね)線の分岐点で，両線開通後，東方の旧宿場町船木に代わって発展した。周防(すおう)灘に臨む埴生(はぶ)は農漁村。米作，施設園芸を営むほか，ノリの養殖も行われる。観光ブドウ園も盛ん。赤間硯(すずり)の産地。2005年３月小野田市と合併し市制，山陽小野田市となる。89.81km²。２万2610人（2003）。

岡山県南部，赤磐(あかいわ)郡の旧町。吉備(きび)高原縁辺の砂川盆地に位置する。砂川は天井川となり，灌漑(かんがい)は溜池(ためいけ)による。中心集落は下市(しもいち)。モモ，ブドウを栽培。宅地化が進んでいる。2005年３月赤磐郡赤坂町，熊山町，吉井町と合併し市制，赤磐市となる。34.64km²。２万5745人（2003）。
