[Germanization and its Reactions]
Czech prosperity in the Middle Ages was boosted by the 14th century under the dynasty of Luxembourg (1310-1437). Charles I of Bohemia (reigned 1346-78), who came of age at the French court during the Hundred Years' War, was elected Holy Roman Emperor in 1347 by German princes who feared the rise of the Habsburgs. curl In 1356 he issued the Golden Bull, which placed the King of Bohemia at the head of the seven electors and established the basis for the strengthening of the empire in the Czech Republic.

...However, at the same time, economic rivalry also emerged between the two countries through competition for shoe sales in Asian markets such as India. Exchanges between the two countries were temporarily suspended during World War II, but after the war, a Japanese language and Japanese studies course was opened at Charles University in Prague (Prague University), laying the foundations for full-scale Japanese studies. In 1957, diplomatic relations between Japan and Czechoslovakia were restored, and embassies were opened in Tokyo and Prague.
