A port located in Shika Town, Ishikawa Prefecture, on the west coast of the Noto Peninsula. In ancient times, it functioned as a base for building, repairing, mooring, and departing ships for the Bohai envoys returning home. In 772, the Bohai envoys on their way back to Bohai were shipwrecked and washed up in Noto Province, so they rested in Fukuratsu. In 883, felling of large trees in Fukuratsu, Hakui County, was prohibited in order to raise funds for building ships for the Bohai envoys' return. It continued to play an important role in sea routes on the Sea of Japan. It was the only designated port on the Hokuriku road on the Nishimawari route, established by Kawamura Zuiken in 1672, and from the mid-Edo period onwards, there were many boat lodges there as a wind-waiting port for Kitamae ships. The Fukura Lighthouse is said to have originated in 1608 when Hino Chobei, a resident of Fukura village, lit a bonfire on the rocky mountain at the entrance to the port, and was rebuilt into a Western-style lighthouse in 1872.
