Fish day

Japanese: Fish day(英語表記)Fishday
Fish day

...The origin of this symbolism was heavily influenced by mythological traditions from Babylonia and the Nile River basin, and it tells us the historical circumstances in which Christianity was established as a hybrid religion under the influence of such ethnic religions. In Western Christian countries, especially Catholic countries, there is a custom of calling Friday "Fish Day" and abstaining from meat and using fish exclusively in cooking. This is related to the fact that Friday is the anniversary of the crucifixion of Christ and was a fast day. In Japanese Buddhism, the day of fasting, which is equivalent to a vegetarian day, has been observed as a day on which fish is not eaten at all, but for Christians, meat must be avoided but rather fish is encouraged, and for this reason Thursday has become a day for fishing and enjoyment for the common people.
