...The astrology of this period is well known in the Śārdula-karṇa-avadāna (translated into Chinese as the Madhāka-sūtra), a Buddhist text from around the 1st century AD, in which the relationship between the sun, moon, and the stars is the basis of divination. In the Garga-saṃhitā from the same period, omens are expanded to all aspects of natural phenomena. The Brihat-saṃhitā, written by Bārāhamihira in the 6th century, is the culmination of this type of natural astrology.

...His knowledge of traditional Indian sciences such as astronomy, astrology, medicine, grammar, rhythm, and ritual studies is fully displayed, and it can be said to be an encyclopedia that brings together ancient Indian culture.
