〘Noun〙 During the Edo period, rice stamps issued by the storehouses of various feudal domains in Osaka were not backed by stored rice. They were traded in the market, but the rice could not actually be delivered from the storehouses. ※Taboo Notice Book - August 18, 1765 (Meiwa 2) "As ordered in the last year of the Snake, it will be treated as an empty rice stamp."
