Gas constant

The constant R in the equation of state for 1 mole of an ideal gas, pV = RT ( p is pressure, V is the volume of 1 mole, and T is absolute temperature), is called the gas constant. It is also called the gas constant or universal gas constant. According to Avogadro's law, any gas that can be considered an ideal gas will have the same constant volume at the same temperature and pressure (22.4136 liters at 0°C and 1 atmosphere), regardless of the type of gas, so R is a constant that is independent of the type of gas. Its value is,
R = (8.31441±0.00026)J/mol・K
= (8.20568 ± 0.00026)

The gas constant, Boltzmann's constant k and Avogadro's constant N _A have the relationship R = N _A k .

1モルの理想気体の状態方程式pV＝RT（pは圧力、Vは1モルの容積、Tは絶対温度）中の定数Rを気体定数という。ガス定数あるいは普遍気体定数ともいう。アボガドロの法則から、理想気体とみなせる気体は、その種類いかんによらず、同温・同圧下の容積は同じ一定値（0℃、1気圧の下で22.4136リットル）をとるから、Rは気体の種類によらない定数となる。その値は、
