His works include Okinagusa, Ryoken Kigu, Karanishiki, Strange Tales, Miyamagusa, and Onna Suikoden, and were published between 1778 and 1783. All of them are novels that imported the structure and style of Chinese novels, which were popular at the time, into Japanese novels, and the preface to Karanishiki conveys well the atmosphere of the early period of the formation of reading books, which began with Okajima Kanzan and Oka Shirakoma. …
