Triangular bandage - Sankakukin

Japanese:
Triangular bandage - Sankakukin

A type of bandage, it is usually a square piece of white cloth (cotton) with sides of 90 to 100 centimeters cut in half diagonally. A small triangular bandage is made by folding this in half again. It has a wide range of uses and is easy to use, so it can be used as is or folded to a suitable width. In addition to covering or fixing a wide area, it is useful for bandaging the head, chest, shoulders, and buttocks, which are difficult to wrap with regular bandages (roller belts). It is also used as a triangular bandage to support the upper limbs.

When covering the head with a triangular scarf, first fold the bottom of the scarf back about 3 centimeters, turn it outward, and place the centre of the bottom at the centre of the forehead (above the eyebrows), with the tip hanging down at the back of the head. Next, hold the bottom with both hands and cover the head while squeezing the scarf at the ears to make it tight, then cross both ends at the back of the head and tie them in the centre of the forehead. Pull the tip of the back of the head downward to smooth out any wrinkles and tuck it into the crossing, or bring the tip to the forehead and tie it with the previously tied end. To use a triangular scarf with an elbow support, wrap one end around the neck and tie it, supporting and immobilising the forearm which is bent at a right angle. In the past, there were triangular scarves with instructions on how to use them dyed in, but this was thought to be intended to ensure that anyone could use it correctly in an emergency.
