Kanzaki River

A branch of the right bank of the downstream Yodogawa River. It is about 19 kilometers long. It branches off from the Yodogawa River at Eguchi, Higashiyodogawa Ward, Osaka City, and flows into Osaka Bay together with the Aigawa River and Inagawa River. Until the Middle Ages, it was called Mikunigawa, and was originally a separate river from the Yodogawa River, following the current Aigawa River course. In 785 (Enryaku 4), it was connected to the Yodogawa River by a moat, and in 1878 (Meiji 11), the river course was changed to due west at the meandering part after the branch. In the Middle Ages, the river ports of Eguchi, Takahama (Suita City), and Daimotsuura (Amagasaki City) flourished. Currently, the coast is a chemical industrial area.

淀川(よどがわ)下流右岸の分流。延長約19キロメートル。大阪市東淀川区江口(えぐち)で淀川から分かれ、安威川(あいがわ)、猪名川(いながわ)などをあわせて大阪湾に注ぐ。中世まで三国川(みくにがわ)とよばれ、もともと淀川とは別の現安威川筋の川であったが、785年（延暦4）に堀で淀川と通じ、1878年（明治11）分流後の曲流部を真西に河道が付け替えられた。中世には江口、高浜（吹田(すいた)市）、大物浦(だいもつのうら)（尼崎(あまがさき)市）の河港が栄えた。現在沿岸は化学工業地帯となっている。
