[Tar-based dyes]
The tar-based dyes permitted in Japan are Red No. 2, Red No. 40, Red No. 102, Yellow No. 4, and Yellow No. 5, which belong to the azo dyes category; Red No. 3, Red No. 104, Red No. 105, and Red No. 106, which belong to the xanthene dyes category; Blue No. 1 and Green No. 3, which belong to the triphenylmethane dyes category; and Blue No. 2, which belongs to the indigoid dyes category. All of them are highly soluble in water.
