...This folding screen was presented to Uesugi Kenshin by Oda Nobunaga in 1574, and shows that Eitoku had been working on the subjects of flowers and birds and customs, which were popular in the Momoyama period, from the early days. Other works attributed to Eitoku include the Chinese Lion Screen (Imperial Household Agency) and Xu You and Souho (Tokyo National Museum). There is also a theory that, based on the style, the Cypress Screen (Tokyo National Museum) and, based on records, the partition paintings in the main hall of Nanzenji Temple may have been painted by Eitoku.
