Year of death: 4th year of Chowa 6th 7th (1015.6.25) Year of birth: Tenkei 2 (939) A mid-Heian period onmyoji. Son of Onmyoji Kamo no Yasunori. His father Yasunori shared the duties of both calendars and astronomy, passing on the art of calendars to his son Koei and the art of astronomy to his disciple Abe no Seimei. Both Koei and Seimei became leading onmyoji of the time, and thus the two head schools of Onmyoji, Kamo and Abe, were established. He held such posts as calendar doctor, Harima no Gonnosuke, and Oinokami, and was the last of his ranks, Jushi Shijo, Ukyo no Gonnodaibu, before passing away. His outstanding activities as an onmyoji can be found scattered throughout records, and in the entry for May 9, 1011 in the Gonki, it is recorded that he pointed out the need for a law to expel evil to Emperor Ichijo after a strange phenomenon occurred, but this was not accepted, and he passed away. <References> Murayama Shuichi, "A General Overview of the History of Onmyodo in Japan" (Sekko Masaya) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
