Kaminoyama Basin

...It is also called the Murayama Basin. To the north is the Obanazawa Basin, separated by the Sodezaki Hills, and to the south is the Kaminoyama Basin, separated by the volcanic mudflow of Zao Kanakame. In a broad sense, these small basins are all included in the Yamagata Basin. To the east is the Ou Mountains, which include the volcanic groups of Zao, Omoshiroyama (1,264m), and Funagatayama (Goshoyama), and to the west is the Dewa Mountains, which include the volcanoes Hayama and Shiratakayama. Each is a fault graben basin bounded by the Yamagata (Takiyama) Fault Escarpment and Takatoyayama Fault Escarpment.
