〘Noun〙① A belt worn around the waist. ※Haiku・Inukoshu (1633) 17 "Even the fields of heaven are filled with the spring of October. The clouds of drizzle are the mountain's sash."② A black leather belt worn around the waist of a robe when wearing a formal attire. Sekitai ( stone belt). Yotai (belt) . ※Shoki (720) Tenmu 5th Year, January, Kiuu (Kitano Honin) "From Prince Takichi onwards, those above Konishiki were given a kimono hakama fold waist belt, ayuhi (foot belt ) , and oshimatsuki (stool) ."③ A narrow, decorative belt tied over a suikan (water dress) , kariginu (hunting garment) , mizugoromo (water garment), or happi (happi coat) , and hung down in front. Also used in Noh costumes. [Shozoku Shusei (around 1754)] ④ An accessory for women's kimono. An obi (sash) worn under the kimono. A narrow string tied around the waist to adjust the length of the kimono to fit the wearer's height and to keep the excess obi inside the obi. Kakae obi. [Shogenjiko Setsuyoshu (1717)]

〘Noun〙① A leather belt with metal straps attached. Sekitai (stone belt) . Also simply refers to a waist belt. *Suga Family Wensao (c. 900), vol. 2, 28 characters, presented by Xie Zui Zhi as a gift. <Omitted> Further describing the four rhymes, Chongyi Yi Zhi "The waist belt is made up of two or three cups at the back, and is preserved in 47 characters of verbal conversation" [Book of the Later Han - Geng Bing Biography]② Part of the skeleton of paired limbs in vertebrates; the hind limb girdle. It functions to connect the free limbs of paired limbs that protrude outside the body to the spine. The back is made up of the ilium, and the abdomen is made up of the pubic bone and ischium. The form varies depending on the vertebrate. The primitive form was the cartilage suture of fish.

よう‐たい エウ‥【腰帯】

〘名〙① 金属などでつくった帯金がつけてある革の帯。石帯(せきたい)。また、単に腰の帯のこともいう。※菅家文草(900頃)二・二十八字、謝酔中贈衣。〈略〉更述四韻、重以戯之「腰帯両三杯後解、口談四七字中存」 〔後漢書‐耿秉伝〕② 脊椎動物の有対肢の骨格の一部、後肢帯のこと。有対肢の体外に突出する部分の自由肢を脊柱に結合する働きがある。背部は腸骨、腹部は恥骨・坐骨などからなる。脊椎動物により形態などが異なる。原始形は魚類の軟骨縫合。
