Sulpicia

...The circle of Maecenas, the right-hand man of Emperor Augustus, was particularly prominent. With the support of Maecenas, such representative poets of Latin literature as Virgil, Horatius, Propertius, Varius, and Plotius Tucca became professional poets and contributed to shaping the spirit of the times. In Messala's circle were Tibullus, Lygdamus, and Sulpicia. Pollio, himself a poet and historian, established the custom of gathering literary men together for readings.
