A security-like claim to be paid to a specific person or to a person who is in turn instructed by that person. The delivery is usually a payment of money or the delivery of goods. Bills, checks, warehouse receipts, lading receipts, and bills of lading, which are typical securities defined by the Commercial Code, are naturally command claims under the law even without command clauses, but the Commercial Code, Bills of Exchange Act, and Check Act apply primarily to them. In addition, it is possible to issue direct claims that are subject to the Civil Code, but in practice there appear to be no examples of this being done.
