Chamomile - Kamitsure

Japanese:
Chamomile - Kamitsure

A cold-tolerant annual plant of the Asteraceae family (APG classification: Asteraceae). Its correct species name is chamomyrrh, but it is commonly called chamomile. Native to Europe and North Asia. The entire plant is hairless and well-branched, about 50 cm tall. The leaves are 2-3 times pinnate, thin and short. The entire plant is fragrant. In summer, the top of each branch produces a flower with a diameter of 2.5 cm, with a yellow tubular flower in the center and white ray flowers around it. The dried flower heads are the folk medicine "chamomile flower". In Europe, it has long been said that drinking a tea made from chamomile is effective for sweating and reducing fever, and it is also used as an anti-inflammatory for stomatitis and pharyngitis, as a fragrance to keep warm, and as a bath. In horticulture, what is called matricaria is the feverfew of the Tanacetum genus, and is used in autumn-sown flower beds, as cut flowers, and dwarf species are grown in pots.
