Gameunsa Temple Site - Kamunsa-ji (English spelling)

Japanese: 感恩寺址 - かんおんじし（英語表記）Kamunsa‐ji

A temple site from the Unified Silla period in Yongdang-ri, Yangbuk-myeon, Wolseong-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea. On the east coast, separated by a mountain from Gyeongju city, is Daewangam Rock, said to be the tomb of King Munmu, and at the foot of the mountain to the northwest is Gameunsa Temple, said to be a temple for praying for the repose of King Munmu's soul. It was known from early on that there were twin three-storey stone pagodas, but excavations and repairs to the West Pagoda by the National Museum of Korea in 1959 revealed that the temple was laid out in the Yakushiji-style, and relic ornaments from the Unified Silla period were discovered in a rectangular reliquary hole on the top of the third-storey shaft of the West Pagoda.

韓国，慶尚北道月城郡陽北面竜堂里にある統一新羅時代の寺院址。慶州市から山をへだてた東海岸の海中に文武王の陵と伝える大王岩があり，その西北山麓に文武王の冥福を祈る寺と伝える感恩寺があった。早くから3層の石塔の双塔があることが知られていたが，1959年の韓国国立博物館の発掘と西塔の修理によって，薬師寺式伽藍配置であることがわかり，西塔の第3層塔身軸部上面の長方形の舎利孔より統一新羅時代の舎利荘厳具が発見された。
