Catholic Monarchs Style

…It was established by Simon de Colonia and Juan Guas, both of whom were descended from the Alps, and is a fusion of Northern Gothic and Mudejar styles, as seen in the façades of the San Gregorio College and the San Pablo Church in Valladolid, and is characterized by excessive decoration. It is also called the "Catholic Monarchs Style" because of the inclusion of Ferdinand, King of Aragon, husband of Isabel. This tendency toward fantastical excessive decoration in the late Gothic period was inherited by the Plateresque style in the early Renaissance. …
