A castle in the center of Cardiff, the capital of Wales, UK. Cardiff's history began when the Romans built a fortress around the year 1 AD, and it later became a Norman fortress, and in the 12th century the current keep (medieval fortress) was built. The remains of the Roman wall and the medieval Norman fortress also remain. The current castle was built in the 19th century by the third lord of the Bute family, who invited architect William Burges to build it.
