Home helpers are people whose job is to provide assistance to families whose members are unable to carry out normal daily activities due to low income, illness or disability of family members, or for various other reasons. At the end of the 19th century, home help services that visit elderly homes and help with daily activities were already being implemented in Switzerland and the UK, but by the beginning of the 20th century they had become common in other countries. *Some of the terminology that refers to "home servants" is listed below.
