Japanese: 操觚字訣 - そうこじけつ

A language textbook from the mid-Edo period. Ten volumes, supplementary volumes, posthumous volumes, and a sequel in five volumes. Ito Togai's unfinished draft was revised and edited by his son Tosho. The preface was written in 1763 ( the 13th year of the Horeki era), and the book was revised in 1773 (the 2nd year of the An'ei era). It was published between 1879 and 1885 ( 1879-1885 ). It explains the writing style of classical Chinese, and collects kanji characters with the same reading but different meanings, both real and false words, and examples of their usage to show the differences between them. It is a representative language textbook of the early modern period, on a par with Ogyu Sorai's " Yakubun Sentei."

江戸中期の語学書。一〇巻、補編、遺編、続編五巻。伊藤東涯の未定稿をその子東所が修訂、編集。宝暦一三年（一七六三）序、安永二年（一七七三）に改編。明治一二～一八年（一八七九‐八五）刊。漢文の文章作法を説き、実詞、虚詞にわたり同訓異義の漢字と用例を集めてその差異を示す。荻生徂徠の「訳文筌蹄(せんてい)」と並ぶ近世の代表的語学書。
