Katada Domain

Japanese: 堅田藩 - かただはん
Katada Domain

During the Edo period, this clan ruled over the Takashima District of Shiga Prefecture in Omi Province (Otsu and Takashima City in Shiga Prefecture). Fudai, 10,000 koku. In 1698 (Genroku 11), Hotta Masataka was transferred from Sano, Shimotsuke Province (Tochigi Prefecture) with a fief of 10,000 koku, and founded Katata Domain. Masataka, Masamine, Masanaga, Masazane, Masatomi, and Masaatsu followed, but in 1826 (Bunsei 9), he was transferred to Sano, Shimotsuke with a fief of 13,000 koku, and Katata Domain was abolished. Hotta Masaatsu, while serving as a young councilor, was in charge of the editor-in-chief of "Kansei Choshu Shokafu" and was given an additional 3,000 koku, bringing his total to 16,000 koku. The transfer to his ancestral home of Sano was also a reward for the editor-in-chief.
