Nasrid Dynasty - Nar

The last Islamic dynasty in the Iberian Peninsula (1232-1492). It is also called the Kingdom of Granada after its capital city. After the Almohad dynasty's power disappeared from the peninsula, Córdoba and Seville fell to Christians, so Muhammad I founded the kingdom in Granada, agreeing to pay tribute to the King of Castile. It maintained its independence through a skillful foreign policy that maintained a balance of power between the Christian countries in the north and the Marinid dynasty of Morocco. It had a strong sense of being an Islamic state, protected Muslim refugees from Christian-controlled areas, and made Arabic its official language. As the center of Western Islamic civilization, it never lost its brilliance in scholarship and art, and produced great scholars such as Ibn al-Khatib, who was also the vizier (victim), and built the Alhambra Palace. It was destroyed by Christians who gained power after the merger of Aragon and Castile. The historian Ibn Khaldun served as an envoy for this dynasty for a time.

イベリア半島最後のイスラム王朝（1232～1492）。首都名をとってグラナダ王国ともいう。半島からムワッヒド朝の勢力が消滅後、コルドバやセビーリャがキリスト教徒の手に落ちたので、ムハンマド1世はカスティーリャの王への貢納に同意しつつグラナダに建国した。北方のキリスト教諸国とモロッコのマリーン朝との力の均衡を保つという巧みな外交政策により独立を維持した。イスラム国家としての意識が強く、キリスト教徒支配地からのムスリム亡命者を保護し、アラビア語を公用語とした。西方イスラム文明の中心地として学問、芸術の輝きは失われず、ワジール（宰相）でもあったイブン・アルハティーブらの偉大な学者を輩出し、またアルハンブラ宮殿が建てられた。アラゴンとカスティーリャ両国の合併で勢力を強めたキリスト教徒によって滅ぼされた。歴史家イブン・ハルドゥーンは一時この王朝の使臣として仕えた。
