...The Hoso-kamon pattern on the Kongo-ban (Heian period) at the Tokyo National Museum makes good use of the characteristics of the Sukebori technique. Katakiribori is a technique in which one side of the cut edge is carved diagonally when carving the outline of the pattern, carving the brushstrokes of the Tsuketate style of painting directly. It was started by Yokoya Somin in the Edo period, and Kano Natsuo, who was active in the late Edo period and Meiji period, is said to be a master of this technique. ...
