...Naturally, the Tokugawa clan also wrote the "Tokugawa Family Genealogy" for the new government. The "Modern Peerage Summary" (1929) compiled by the Restoration Historical Materials Compilation Association was recently published as the "Showa New Peerage Genealogy" (Vol. 1 and 2) by the Kasumi Society, which is made up of former members of the aristocracy, and this is probably the most recent collection of genealogies.

Since ancient times, there has been a culture of nobility with the Emperor at the top, respect for family background, and pride in one's family lineage. In the past, it was common for family positions to be inherited as civil servants or government offices, and people's social status was restricted from birth, and their lives were regulated more than in terms of practical gain.
