…the hippocampus is an ancient part of the cerebral cortex inside the brain, the primitive form of which is also found in fish and amphibians. It was named after the shape of the fish tail attached to the lower half of Hippocampus, a sea monster ridden by Poseidon, the god of the sea in Greek mythology.
