It is a high-temperature pyroclastic flow consisting mainly of volcanic ash. When large amounts of pyroclastic material and gas are erupted from a volcano, they can be found in the lower part of a thermal cloud (nuee ardente) [Fisher: 1954, MacGregor: 1955].
