Mengzi - Mouji

A county-level city in the southeastern part of Yunnan Province, China. It is the seat of the provincial government of the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. It has a population of 381,007 (2010). Both the Kunhe Line (Kunming-Hekou) and the Mengbao Line (Mengzi-Baoxiu) run through the county. It was opened when Yunnan became Chinese territory during the Yuan Dynasty, and the Mengzi Thousand Houses Office was established there, and it then became a county. Located along the road that runs south from Kunming to the river mouth on the Vietnamese border, it developed as a transportation and commercial town, and was opened as a commercial port by the Sino-French Treaty of 1887. It is adjacent to Gejiu, China's number one tin producing area, and metal processing, rubber, silk-reeling industries, etc. are well developed. It is also known as a pomegranate producing area.

中国、雲南(うんなん)省南東部の県級市。紅河(こうが)ハニ族イ族自治州の州政府所在地である。人口38万1007（2010）。県内を昆河線（昆明(こんめい)―河口(かこう)）、蒙宝線（蒙自―宝秀(ほうしゅう)）の両鉄道が通じる。元代に雲南が中国領となってから開け、蒙自千戸所が置かれ、ついで県となった。昆明から南下しベトナム国境の河口に至る街道に沿うため、交通、商業の町として発展し、1887年の清仏(しんふつ)条約により商埠地(しょうふち)として開かれた。中国第一の錫(すず)の産地箇旧(かきゅう)に隣接するため、金属加工業、ゴム、製糸工業などが発展している。ザクロの産地としても知られる。
