Japanese: ハゴロモノキ - はごろものき（英語表記）silk oak

An evergreen tree of the Proteaceae family native to eastern Australia, it grows to a height of 25-45m and a diameter of 0.6-1m. Its beautiful shape and unique leaf shape make it popular in tropical and subtropical regions as avenue trees and garden trees, and also as a windbreak and shade tree in tea and coffee plantations. Also known as Shinobu-no-ki or Kinu-gashiwa. The leaves are alternate, with broad elliptical blades 15-30cm long, finely lobed like fern leaves, and the tips of the pinnae are recurved. The undersides of the leaves are covered with silvery white hairs. The inflorescence is a 7-12cm long raceme with numerous golden yellow to orange-yellow tubular flowers biased to one side.
