Lung sounds

Japanese: 肺音 - はいおん（英語表記）lung sounds

Sounds produced by the lungs and bronchi as they breathe. Doctors listen to these sounds on the chest wall with a stethoscope to help diagnose respiratory diseases. There are two types of lung sounds: breath sounds, which can be heard in healthy people, and rasping sounds, which are produced only during illness. Breath sounds are similar to white noise (the hissing sound heard when the FM radio dial is set to an intermediate station). Breath sounds heard near the trachea and large bronchi are called bronchial breath sounds, and have a higher quality than those heard on other parts of the chest wall, with frequency components up to around 1000 Hz.

肺や気管支が呼吸運動につれて発生する音。医師はその音を聴診器を使って胸壁上で聴き，呼吸器疾患の診断に役立てる。肺音には健康人にも聞かれる呼吸音breath soundsと，疾患の際にだけ発生するラッセル音とがある。　呼吸音は，ホワイトノイズ(FM放送のダイヤルが局間にあるときに聞かれるシャーシャーいう音)に似た雑音である。気管や太い気管支の近くで聞かれる呼吸音は，気管支呼吸音bronchial breath soundsと呼ばれ，胸壁のその他の部位で聞かれるものよりも音質が高く，1000Hz辺りまで周波数成分をもっている。
