…In 1873, he was sent to the Austrian World Exposition, where he learned the cylinder method, the hexagonal method (layering method), and the medium method from horticulturalist D. Hoyblenk. After returning to Japan, he published the book "Three Agricultural Things" and sold tens of thousands of copies. In 1875, he founded Gakunosha, and in 1876, Gakunosha Agricultural School. At the same time, he started the "Agricultural Magazine." He continued to work energetically, promoting his own vision of agriculture that aimed for Westernization, different from the official line. However, in his later years, he suffered setbacks in business, and his dramatic life ended with a cerebral hemorrhage while in a train on the Yokosuka Line, before he could achieve his goals. …
