…Poison is obtained from various plants, but the most common are several species of Strychnos (Machinaceae), whose bark is thoroughly boiled and then simmered to produce curare. Other species, such as Chondrodendron , Abuta , and Telitoxicum (Menispermaceae), and plants of the Nectandra genus (Lauraceae) are also used as arrow poisons.
