A representative ethnically-owned oil company. In 1992, Nippon Mining, which was strong in refining, and Kyodo Sekiyu, which was strong in sales (established in 1965, and the following year consolidating the sales departments of Nippon Mining, Asia Oil, and Toa Oil), merged to form Nippon Mining Kyodo Sekiyu, which took its current name in 1993. Its service stations use the name JOMO. Its subsidiaries include the convenience store chain AM/PM. In 2002, it established a joint holding company with Nippon Mining & Metals, Nippon Mining Holdings, which became a wholly owned subsidiary. In 2010, Nippon Oil and Nippon Mining Holdings merged to form JX Holdings.

石油会社で代表的な民族系元売会社。1992年，精製に強い日本鉱業と販売に強い共同石油（1965年設立。翌年に日本鉱業，アジア石油，東亜石油３社の販売部門を集約）が合併して日鉱共石となり，1993年現社名。サービス・ステーションはJOMOの名を掲げる。子会社にコンビニエンス・ストアのエーエム・ピーエムなどをもつ。2002年日鉱金属と共同持株会社〈新日鉱ホールディングス〉を設立。100％子会社となる。2010年新日本石油と新日鉱ホールディングスが経営統合しJXホールディングスを設立。
