A type of theater that put into practice the theatrical reform movement that began in 1886. In 1891, Ii Yoho held a performance at the Seibikan in Asakusa that he called "Improved Theater for Men and Women." 〘名〙 明治一九年（一八八六）に始まる演劇改良運動の主張を実践した演劇。同二四年、伊井蓉峰が男女合同改良演劇と銘打って浅草の済美館で行なった公演などがある。改良芝居。
